Information for all imc Express users: New text elements and how to deal with size warnings

What’s new?

With the latest update to imc Express, related content – such as a list or a section of formatted text with a common theme – can now be grouped together in a single content element. Previously, such content often had to be split across several individual elements.

The benefit for you: Content that belongs together is guaranteed to remain grouped in all output formats and will no longer be split up.

What happens to existing projects?

As part of the update, your existing projects will be automatically converted to the new format. Specifically, this mainly affects lists: lists that previously consisted of many individual elements, each containing a single list item, are now combined into a single, coherent list within a single element.

Why might a warning message appear?

Content elements in imc Express must not exceed a certain maximum size. If an element is too large, it can no longer be displayed properly on different output devices (e.g. smartphone, tablet, desktop).

Due to the automatic consolidation, individual elements may exceed this limit. The editor indicates this with a red warning message:

Content Element is too large

One problem has been found in the content. Please review the marked entry within your content.

How to resolve the warning

  1. Select an element: Click on the content element highlighted by the warning message.
  2. Split the text: Place the cursor at a logical point in the text (e.g. between two paragraphs or sections) and press the Enter key. The element will be split into two elements at this point.
  3. Repeat if necessary: If an element is still too large afterwards, split it further in the same way.
  4. Done: Once all elements are small enough, the red warning message will disappear automatically. Your content can then be published as usual.

Tip: When splitting content, ensure that logically related sections remain together as far as possible so that your learners can follow the text easily.
