Themes in imc Express
A theme in imc Express is a pre-set design and formatting template that can be used to create learning content. Themes can include various elements such as colour schemes, fonts, backgrounds and other design elements.
These provide a visual framework for the created content and ensure a consistent look. This makes course creation easier and faster, as authors do not have to manually set up each design element, and it ensures that their content matches their company's corporate identity, if applicable.
Theme editor
imc Express has an editor for creating and customising your own themes. If you do not have this editor, please contact your imc contact person.
You can use the theme editor to specify the design options in imc Express.
Logo
The theme editor offers the option of using your own logo graphic for the overview page in the player. This is displayed instead of the default graphic ‘created with imc Express’.
The logo image can be added via the media library. It is recommended to use cut-out graphics with a transparent background. The scaling controller can be used to adjust the display size of the logo.
Colours
The colour scheme of an imc Express theme can be changed using a basic set of primary colours. These primary colours have a global effect on the overall display of a content. The following colours can be customised:
- Background is used as the background colour for navigation, table of contents, flip cards, etc.
- Foreground is generally used for font colour in the content.
- Canvas is used for the stage background.
- Primary is used for highlighting and as the base colour for buttons.
- Secondary is used as a contrasting colour (page progress indicator).
- Muted is the toned-down version of the foreground colour.
- Success is used for interactions and as a progress indicator.
- Warning is used to emphasise feedback for questions answered incorrectly, which allow a further attempt.
- Danger is used to emphasise feedback for questions answered incorrectly.
Fonts
The fonts for body text and headings can be customised independently of each other. Imc Express offers a set of predefined fonts.
The following fonts can be selected:
- Lato
- Arimo
- Noto Serif Display
- Montserrat
- Noto Sans
- Noto Serif
- Open Sans
- Roboto (preset)
- Roboto Condensed
- Cormorant Garamond
- Poppins
Background images
Imc Express uses various layouts for the output, some of which may also contain background images. These background images are filled from a predefined set of images.
At the content level, a set of images can optionally be defined for each heading, which is used for the heading and all subordinate pages. If these optional sets are not used, placeholders defined in the theme are used.
Any number of images can be added to each theme (5-10 images are recommended). In addition, the image sequence and the reference point for the alignment of each image can be changed.
Background images can be added via the media library. To achieve a good display quality on desktop devices, a minimum width of 1920px is recommended.
